Security Issues in Voice-over-IP Deployments

Voice-over-IP (VoIP) technology is quickly gaining momentum in Denmark since the required high speed data network infrastructure is already pre-deployed, thus enabling deployment of new productivity enhancing business applications as well as resulting in substantial reduction in telephony toll charges.  In current installations, VoIP and data traffic shares the same network infrastructure, which makes VoIP traffic vulnerable to the network security issues of data networks, including denial-of service attacks, viruses, worms, and hacker exploitation, among others.

Furthermore, several new security issues specifically related to VoIP are also present, e.g. call eavesdropping, call hijacking, fake caller ID, toll fraud, VoIP Spam, VoIP application manipulation, etc. We have a comprehensive knowleged of the different security issues related to VoIP, and describe the counter-measures available to address them.
